The Daroff-Dell'Osso Ocular Motility Laboratory
(OMLAB)

Analysis Methods for Visual Acuity and Nystagmus
Listed below are nystagmus analysis methods and applications of the NAFX that have resulted from research conducted at OMLAB.

Nystagmus Phase Planes plot eye position vs. velocity to analyze nystagmus trajectories relative to a foveation window defining the bounds of high acuity.
Nystagmus Scan Paths plot horizontal vs. vertical trajectories of nystagmus waveforms to illustrate biplanar nystagmus trajectories.
Nystagmus Conjugacy Plots of one eye vs. the other in each nystagmus plane illustrate the phase relationships of the motion of the two eyes.
The eXpanded Nystagmus Acuity Functionn (NAFX) was designed to determine best-corrected potential visual acuity in congenital nystagmus, latent/manifest latent nystagmus, and acquired nystagmus
The NAFX provides an objective measure of nystagmus therapies, including gene therapy
The NAFX can also be used to estimate post-nystagmus-therapy improvement in measured visual acuity
